Student Loans
The Equitable Savings
and Loan Company makes subsidized and unsubsidized Federal Stafford
Loans to students who qualify for a loan guarantee under the provisions
of the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation. All loans must have
this guarantee prior to disbursement of any funds.
The application
shall be in writing on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA). The application shall not be deemed to be completed until signed
by the applicant and supported by the typical documents necessary for
loan committee action. A written credit report may be required for any
loan applicant. The applicant's history in the use of credit and the
manner in which credit obligations were paid will be considered. Any
recent reports indicating slow pay, collections, repossessions, creditor
lawsuits, defaults, or foreclosures will be considered grounds for denial
unless it can be established that circumstances were temporary and beyond
control. If the applicant has been bankrupt, a satisfactory explanation
of the conditions that caused the bankruptcy and any action taken to
correct the debt must be explained.
The loan rate, terms,
and the amount of the loan will be within the guidelines as set by the
Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation. Additional information about
the student loans that we offer and other types of loans available can
be found at www.ghhec.org.
